2014
Special Mention – IOPD 8th Best Practice of Citizen Participation
The GRPB Pilot Project was internationally recognised by the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IOPD) for empowering citizen voices.
2018
Best Practice of Citizen Participation Award
The ‘Duit Kita, Hak Kita’ Participatory Budgeting Project in Machang Bubuk won global recognition as the Best Practice of Citizen Participation at the IOPD event in Barcelona, Spain, marking a first for Malaysia.
2022
Geospatial World Excellence Award
The Penang Stops Violence app, developed in collaboration with the Penang State Government, won the Geospatial World Excellence Award in Amsterdam for advancing public safety through innovative technology.
2023
Malaysia Book of Records – Largest Participation in a Zumba Event
PWDC set a national record during the International Women’s Day Celebration with 9,500 participants uniting in a Zumba event at Midtown Perda, Tasek Gelugor.

Penang Wins WSIS Prizes 2025!
From Penang to Geneva, PWDC continues to drive change.
The Penang Stops Violence (PSV) app has been crowned a Champion on the global stage at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland.
